The Université temps libre invites you to a lecture by Christian BERNARD , lecturer and honorary history professor, member of IREL/EPHE.
The Bible, in the Old Testament sense of the word, is a collection of books written and rewritten in different periods of antiquity, and constitutes a heritage literature in the same way as the Illiad and the Odyssey. Scientific research is examining the conditions under which this literature was produced. In what cultural, societal and geopolitical contexts were these texts written, and with what intentions? The results may surprise or even baffle a public accustomed to a solely religious approach to these texts. No, the Bible did not fall from the sky, it expresses human intentions, sometimes contradictory, in short, it has a history, and even God has one!
