The Université temps libre invites you to a lecture by Valérie CORONAS, Professor, University of Poitiers.
Symbolically described in mythology, tissue regeneration was studied from the 18th century onwards by Abraham Trembley, who demonstrated the Hydra's ability to reconstitute two whole organisms when cut in half. Since then, it has become apparent that many organisms, but not humans, are capable of regenerating a limb after an injury. In humans, the first stem cells to be identified and used therapeutically were those from bone marrow. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in stem cells.
The aim of this conference is to present the different types of stem cells and to shed light on advances in their use, their potential and their limitations.
Conference at 2.30pm in the amphitheatre of the Lycée Bel Air.
