Talleyrand was one of the most brilliant but also one of the most enigmatic and controversial figures of his time.
Prince de Talleyrand was France's Minister for External Relations for half a century and played a key role in French diplomacy from the Revolution to Louis Philippe. In this lecture, we will look back at his political life and try to better understand the enigmatic man he was in the eyes of his contemporaries. In order to solve part of this enigma, we will look at his personal life, his social origins and the different aspects of his personality and character.
