On the programme

An exceptional Renaissance château

Built at the end of the 16ᵉ century for Nicolas Rapin, Château de Terre-Neuve is one of the finest examples of Renaissance architecture in the Vendée. What makes it special is that it is both an inhabited private residence and a site open to the public. This uniqueness lends an authentic, warm atmosphere to the visit.

Remarkable works of art

Throughout the tour, the guide highlights unique features such as the alchemical fireplace with its mysterious symbols, sculpted ceilings, gilded decorations and historic woodwork. Each room tells its own story, revealing the taste of successive owners for art and collecting.

A museum and park to extend your discovery

The visit continues in the château’s museum, with its hundreds of objects, and then in the wooded park. A more leisurely time, conducive to conversation and contemplation, which complements the discovery inside harmoniously.
