Grivoiseries and Marivaudages in music
The Chanson badine - or even grivoise - is like the ferment of French society, across all eras and audiences. This is because it embodies the finest example of French "bel esprit", inherited from the 17th century.
To suggest without saying, to amuse without shocking, this is a difficult art, constantly ready to slide into excess but always caught in extremis on the edge of vulgarity.
From the eighteenth century to the Belle Epoque, the guitar was the instrument of choice for these musical marivaudages. Baritone Marc Mauillon and guitarist Pascal Sanchez reveal an inexhaustible part of the history of this repertoire.
Concert for all ages 10 and up.
