- Tuesday 21 April at 5pm: From Viète to Rabelais: metamorphoses of a district
Born in the 18ᵉ century, Place Viète was part of the gradual transformation of the west of the city into an elegant residential district, where remarkable town houses still stand. With the French Revolution, the landscape underwent a metamorphosis: the religious congregations established along Rue Rabelais disappeared, making way for the public establishments of the 19ᵉ century, which redesigned the district and gave it a new lease of life.
