Candlelight guided tour
Two centuries, two men, one home. Nicolas Rapin and Octave de Rochebrune
Booking essential - Limited to 15 people
Prices: 12 euros for adults and 6 euros for children
The candlelight guided tour of the Château de Terre-Neuve on Saturdays 26 July and 9 August was a great success, and is back for another evening on 16 August 2025, starting at 8pm. Two men, two centuries, one house. Château de Terre-Neuve is offering a new, original, dramatised guided tour based on two of the house's major historical figures: Nicolas Rapin, a Renaissance poet and statesman, and Octave de Rochebrune, a 19th-century artist and engraver. This tour takes visitors on a journey through time, from the Wars of Religion to the artistic renaissance. Through lively narration, scene re-enactments and the reading of archive extracts and letters, visitors will discover these two men of spirit, both deeply attached to their castle and their town of Fontenay-le-Comte. Terre-Neuve invites you to stroll through its château on Saturday evening in the half-light and discover the story of these two men, guided by candlelight by Pauline Sulletis, a Masters student who initiated this timeless journey.
