From Bazoges-en-Pareds to Cheffois: between river and panorama.
A gentle start.
From Bazoges-en-Pareds, you follow the rivers that accompany your first few kilometres. The landscape is calm and soothing. Here, you pedal without exerting yourself, just for the pleasure of moving forward.
At the halfway point, a stopover is called for: Mouilleron-Saint-Germain.
A discreet village... but steeped in history. It was here that Georges Clemenceau and Marshal de Lattre de Tassigny were born. Two major figures, brought together today in a museum that is well worth a visit.
Then the tone changes.
The relief takes shape and the climbs become more pronounced. You leave the gentleness of the rivers behind and take to the heights.
Your goal: the Colline des Moulins.
At an altitude of almost 180 metres, this promontory offers a spectacular panorama. In the past, up to 18 windmills powered this site. Today, it's the landscape that puts on the show.
In front of you: unspoilt, rolling farmland... and, in the distance, the immense forest of Mervent-Vouvant.
You finish your tour with this view in mind.
It's a progressive stage, a blend of history, effort and wide open spaces.
