Your adventure in detail

Baron Aventure Park: a high-octane experience!

Jane and Tarzan in the making, Vendée Marais Poitevin has a tailor-made venue for you in the heart of Fontenay-le-Comte. Set in a wooded area, the “Parc Baron Aventure” leisure park awaits you for a day of perched activities!

Suspended from a height of up to 9 metres, more than 2,000 m2 of nets will take you safely up to the treetops. No need for equipment here: you have complete freedom of movement to jump, run, climb and laugh. The walkways, monkey bridges, trampolines and slides are accessible from the age of 4, and invite the whole family of acrobats to challenge themselves along the way. So, course or no course?

After the effort, the comfort! Once you’ve found your balance and discovered (and rediscovered) the course, end your day as close to the sky as possible: at the top of the games, the leisure area offers a breathtaking view of Fontenay-le-Comte’s heritage. Whether you’re a child or a parent, who’s going to dare look down?

Did you know? Parc Baron Aventure used to be called “Parcabout”. It was renamed when it was revamped in 2024. More nets, more safety, more fun!

Parc Baron: the place to be for a Fontenaisian greening experience

Enjoyed your experience at the summit? To continue your greening, opt for a stroll through the rest of the park. Yes, because Parc Baron Aventure is actually a leisure park located in one of the most beautiful parks in Fontenay-le-Comte!

What’s on the agenda for your woodland tour? Take advantage of 3 hectares of greenery for a shady stroll between Himalayan cedars, tulip trees and ginkgo biloba trees. At the foot of the ramparts of Fontenay-le-Comte, a medieval-inspired garden created by talented gardeners will even take you back to the days of the feudal castle!

And of course, the highlight of the walk: to round off your day in style, treat yourself to a family meal in the picnic area while admiring the view over the town. After a few sandwiches, the little ones can head off to the play area next door, while the adults take a breather. That’s a lot of activities for one day!

Château Baron: a story like no other

Take a stroll through the Parc Baron and you’ll come across some interesting relics here and there. This is quite simply because the site was once a feudal castle! Built in the XIᵉ century on an escarpment overlooking the River Vendée, the edifice comprised 6 towers linked together by curtain walls. Destroyed during the Revolution, all that remains today are the Guinefolle bastion, the Boulaye tower and a few sections of wall.

But local history doesn’t stop there! In 1819, Jean Baron bought the site and transformed it into a park. He also built the “Baron House”, which is built into the old castle wall. Later, his descendant built the Château Baron to the north of the park, a luxurious villa with a mix of different architectural styles. You can see its balustrades and bell towers protruding from the rue du Pinier, opposite the medieval garden. Shall we go for a walk?
