Description

Discover the Châtaigneraie region on foot (or mountain bike) for a weekend on the Chemin des Châtaignes. Unspoilt, undulating trails will punctuate your "hiking break".
The Chemin des Châtaignes (Chestnut Trail) is a fully signposted 80-kilometre walk or mountain bike ride through the bocage of the Vendée. Along the way, you'll pass through Mouilleron-Saint-Germain, the birthplace of two great men: Georges Clemenceau and Marshal De Lattre de Tassigny. You'll be able to admire the natural sites: Colline des Moulins, old quarries, rivers and mills... And what could be more astonishing than travelling through the solar system on board a brand new planetarium set up in the small town of La Chapelle-aux-Lys? So get your boots on (or your mountain bike) and set off to explore our beautiful Vendée bocage! -------------- PRACTICAL INFO This itinerary can be adapted to suit the distances you wish to cover: For the long loop: 76 kilometres with 4 possible departures: - D1 Mouilleron-Saint-Germain - D2 Marillet - D3 Saint Maurice-des-Noues - D4 La Tardière For the West loop: 49 kilometres with 2 possible departures: - D1 Mouilleron-Saint-Germain - D4 La Tardière For the East loop: 43 kilometres with 2 possible departures: - D2 Marillet - D3 Saint Maurice-des-Noues Variant V1 to V2 is signposted in both directions
