Discover the Marais Poitevin and its history in a never-before-seen show.
The year was 1937 and archaeologist Christiane Le Ray was about to begin excavations to establish whether Maillezais was home to the remains of a Neolithic enclosure, of which there were many in the Vendée. She is enthusiastic. She had just discovered an Aurochs femur at the foot of the abbey, a sign that this animal was present. With the support of Achille Daroux, Member of Parliament and Mayor of Maillezais, she is going to try to recruit people to carry out the dig.
The Marais is an area rich in flora and fauna. The land has always been in a constant state of flux, with the landscape changing and adapting to the needs of the people who have inhabited it over the centuries.
Sunday to Thursday at 2.15pm and 6.15pm
