Description
Concert organised by the Le Camembert association
On *Navigue loin*, pianist Antoine Hervier reinterprets several compositions by Christian Escoudé, a towering figure of French jazz who passed away in 2024. Having collaborated with the guitarist on his last two albums, Antoine Hervier now presents a personal, original and inspired reinterpretation of eight pieces selected from the great melodist’s body of work, spanning from the 1980s to the present day. Without a guitar, but with the freedom of the piano/double bass/drums trio – the quintessential jazz line-up – Antoine reveals the melodic richness, rhythmic elegance and harmonic depth of this repertoire.
Selected for the ‘Génération SPEDIDAM’ jazz section from 2014 to 2017. International Jazz Orchestra Prize – MATMUT Trophy – 2014. Acclaimed by peers such as Didier Lockwood, Martial Solal, Maurice Vander, Rhoda Scott, Tamir Hendelman and Hervé Sellin, Antoine Hervier performs tirelessly on every stage where jazz reigns supreme.
Géraldine Laurent, saxophonist, has won: two Victoires du Jazz awards in 2023 in the Artist of the Year and Concerts categories, the 2020 Victoires du Jazz award in the Best Album of the Year category, the Prix du Disque Français in 2015 from the Académie Charles-Cros, the Django Reinhardt Prize from the Académie du Jazz in 2008, the Victoire du Jazz for Instrumental Revelation of the Year in 2008, the Jazz Revelation Award at Juan in 2006, and the Django d’Or for Young Talent in 2006. Born in Nirot and now recognised as one of the world’s finest saxophonists, Géraldine Laurent performs at the biggest national and international jazz festivals, including: New York, the Beijing Jazz Festival, Cape Verde, the Philippines, Portugal, Morocco, Antibes-Juan-les-Pins, Marciac, Jazz à Vienne…
Today, these two soloists, Antoine Hervier and Géraldine Laurent, are giving us the immense pleasure of performing in concert alongside their friends Guillaume Souriau on double bass and Alban Mourgues on drums.
