Every good explorer needs a map before setting off on an adventure!

The Vendée Marais Poitevin Tourist Office offers 3 walking maps, by geographical area:

• Marais Poitevin
• Mervent-Vouvant forest and surrounding area
• Terre d’étoiles – bocage

Each map costs €1.50. They are available at all our reception points: Fontenay-le-Comte, Maillezais, Vouvant, Mervent and Damvix.

Not in the area? Don’t worry: you can also order your map online and have it delivered straight to your door.

A damaged or missing signpost, a tree in the way, a blocked chain boat, …? Don’t panic, a real hero warns, reports and protects!

Yes, the walks can be filtered by level: easy, medium or difficult, so there’s something for everyone.

The difficulty depends mainly on the length of the route and the gradient. Don’t worry: we’re not in the Alps… here, the difference in altitude is relative!

Each route sheet specifies the distance,estimated time and level, so you can set off on your adventure at your own pace.

Yes, the walking routes are signposted to guide you along the way. The markings make it easy to follow the route, without becoming a lost explorer after ten minutes.

But be warned: 99% of the time, you’ll be walking in a particular direction. If you set off in the wrong direction, you may no longer be able to see the signs… and suddenly doubt your sense of direction.

All the useful information: direction of the loop, colour and style of the markings, location of the start sign, distance, duration, level, etc. is given on the hiking information sheets and maps on sale. And if you find that a signpost is missing or damaged, report it: the heroes are watching over the paths.
