Every year, the Académie Vocale en Vendée Romane organises a workshop comprising two parts: - an opera singing masterclass; - a choral singing workshop.At the end of our 19th edition, which takes place from 11 to 17 July, the AVVR is offering two free concerts (donations welcome).
This concert on 17 July features the Academy Choir. Almost all the choristers come from the Greater West region; they are highly skilled singers who work throughout the course under the guidance of Pierre-Louis Bonamy, choirmaster, technical and educational director of the Maîtrise des Pays de la Loire, and professor of choral conducting at the Nantes Conservatoire.
This evening, the Academy Choir presents ‘Reflets croisés’: from flamboyant Baroque music (Vivaldi – Magnificat, Bach, Handel – Dixit Dominus) to ethereal contemporary works (Pärt, Howells), the centuries echo one another. The Baroque pieces are accompanied by a Baroque instrumental ensemble (basso continuo and strings), creating a programme that balances brilliance (Baroque) with resonance (contemporary). Certain solo passages will be rehearsed in sections in collaboration with singing teacher Alain Buet.
A few soloists from the opera singing masterclass (who will have performed the previous evening at the Chapelle des Mineurs in Faymoreau) will make occasional appearances during this concert.
In addition, a small ensemble will perform works by Purcell, Chilcott and others.
