Dérèglements

Following ‘Virtuosités’ in 2007 and ‘Désordres’ in 2013, 3e étage is back with ‘Dérèglements’, every bit as brilliant and off-the-wall as its predecessors. True to himself and to the spirit of the company, Samuel Murez presents a programme which, in its composition and rhythm, is more akin to a film than a traditional dance performance. *Dérèglements* presents itself as a new variation on the major themes that have made the company so successful and which its creator has been exploring for several years: virtuosity, in all its forms and in all its splendour; the relationship between the individual and the group, which may (or may not) guarantee the expression of individuality; the tension between order and disorder; and respect for the rules versus creative transgression. This tension, which forms the backbone of all 3e étage’s productions, resonates in a particularly intimate way for Samuel Murez and his company, comprising dancers from the Paris Opera Ballet School who have always worked within an environment marked by the weight of the past and formal constraints. It is also evident in their overt refusal to confine themselves to a single dance style, and in the unconventional structure of the performance.
