Description
An event organised as part of the European Heritage Days by the ‘Ville d’art et d’histoire’ department of Fontenay-le-Comte.
The pupils of Lycée Notre-Dame invite you to join them on a guided walk along this historic street. As the commercial heart of the medieval lower town, the architecture along this street bears witness to the town’s past: half-timbered houses, the Millepertuis house, the typical narrow streets, Saint-Jean Church and the Pont des Sardines.
Landscaping has been carried out to create a ‘garden street’, and ornamental railings now mark the boundary of the Passage des Loges, a particularly peaceful spot which is home, amongst other things, to the famous ‘Maison Louis XV’, whose façade was listed as a Historic Monument in 1931.
