Description
Events organised as part of the European Heritage Days in Fontenay-le-Comte.
The house has served various purposes over the years: the Hostellerie des Trois Rois until the 18th century, the first seat of the Vendée Department in 1792, a home for the Sisters of Bon Secours in the 19th century, and later the residence of the sculptor Paul Jourdain.
Today, having been saved from ruin by the artist Pierre Debien and his wife Annick, Pierre has opened his studio to host artists for temporary exhibitions under the name ‘La Maison des Troys Rois’.
In addition to a tour of the premises, this year, the association ‘Les Rencontres Internationales Arts et Cultures’, in partnership with the association ‘Les amis d’Edwin’, is presenting a retrospective of the paintings and drawings by the Anglo-Maraichin painter Edwin APPS (1931–2021).
