An event organised as part of the European Heritage Days by the ‘Ville d’art et d’histoire’ department of Fontenay-le-Comte.

Lespinay de Beaumont was completed in 1784 for the family of the same name. It embodies the elegance of a sober yet powerful aristocratic architectural style, drawing on the principles of the colossal order, in stark contrast to its cramped neighbourhood. Built with a vast carriage entrance once used by horse-drawn carriages, its design reflects the social aspirations of a self-assured nobility and the evolution of housing in the Versailles style. It has successively served as accommodation for officials on mission and generals, a hospital for sick prisoners, a residence, factories, a museum, a dance school and, finally, a block of flats. This tour will be led by the hotel’s residents and pupils from the Lycée Rabelais. *************************** Meet at the Hôtel Lespinay de Beaumont from 10.00 am to 12.00 pm and from 2.30 pm to 7.00 pm Guided tours depart every 30 minutes Groups of up to 20 people Free of charge
