Step back in time to one of New York’s most legendary jazz clubs of the 1930s.
The film is heavily inspired by the history and the figures who worked there, notably Duke Ellington and Cab Calloway. Richard Gere gives a brilliant performance in the lead role.
Despite difficulties with the producer during filming, Coppola has created a moving feature film.
Featuring compositions by Duke Ellington and Cab Calloway, the film’s soundtrack, composed by John Barry, won the Grammy Award for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album in
1986.
