Louis XI, King of France, is organising a grand waterfowl hunt to mark his visit to Anjou. Chevalier Culblanc, a little shorebird, is in a right state: how can he stop this terrible bird hunt?
René, Duke of Anjou, is a great protector of wildlife; surely he can do something. But René has not left his bed for days, overcome by melancholy. His duchy, too, is threatened by the king’s arrival.
It is then that a renowned medical expert arrives at the castle: will his arrival bode well or ill for the Duke’s health and the birds’ survival?
