Description
Discover the Marais Poitevin and its history in a never-before-seen show.
It is 1937 and archaeologist Christiane Le Ray is preparing to begin excavations to determine whether Maillezais is home to the remains of a Neolithic enclosure, of which there are many in the Vendée. She is enthusiastic. She has just discovered an aurochs femur at the foot of the abbey, a sign that this animal was present. Supported by Achille Daroux, MP and mayor of Maillezais, she will attempt to recruit volunteers to see the excavation project through to completion.
The Marais is a region rich in flora and fauna. The land has always been in a state of constant flux; the landscape changes and adapts to the needs of the people who inhabit it, and has done so throughout the centuries.
