Description
Open a door that is usually closed....
Immerse yourself in industrial history on an exceptional tour of the Benet lime kilns. This site, listed as a Historic Monument and usually closed to the public, reveals its secrets only on rare occasions… and you’re one of the lucky few.
Built in 1873, this monumental complex – inspired by the Vauban style – bears witness to a fascinating industrial past. From the quarries to the kilns, via the mysterious lime-sifting plant, every nook and cranny tells the story of the ingenuity of the builders of yesteryear.
But that’s not all: explore the little-known links between these kilns and the Faymoreau mines, and discover how the construction of a railway line transformed the area.
A journey through time, where industry becomes a realm of exploration…
A unique experience for the curious and the adventurous, which takes place only a few times a year.
Don’t miss this chance to connect with history!
