In search of local flavours! Prepare your basket

Every Wednesday and Saturday morning in Fontenay-le-Comte, the market halls come alive with the sound of voices, baskets filling up and regulars getting together. On Saturdays, the market takes over the Place Chevolleau and Place Thiversay: an open-air stage where you can wander, observe, taste… in short, savour life.

On the stalls, you’ll find all the market staples:

  • fishmongers and market gardeners for ultra-fresh produce,
  • butchers, pork butchers and cheesemongers for the best values,
  • artisan bakers and confectioners for the ultimate in indulgence,
  • and a few nuggets from elsewhere to spice up the adventure.

And for a 100% local booty, we’re betting on :

  • a prefou to tantalise the taste buds,
  • Vendée ham and mogettes,
  • a bread with character combined with goat’s cheese,
  • a slice of brioche for a sweet triumph.
