The clear, accessible texts make it easy to understand the history of the town and its major transformations. As you stroll along, you’ll plunge back into the heyday of the Renaissance, a period when Fontenay-le-Comte shone far beyond the borders of the Vendée!

In Fontenay-le-Comte, the Ville d’Art et d’Histoire department offers a varied programme of events to help you discover the town in a different way.

As the seasons go by, you’ll find heritage aperitif tours, lectures, visits at dusk, escapes-games… as well as children’s workshops for a more fun approach. So many opportunities to immerse yourself in the history of the city, accompanied by a passionate guide.
